I'm 14 and either want to be a helicopter pilot for coast guard or air force. I'm to young to talk to a recruiter, so I need your help. Preferably from someone from the armed services.

Q 1: What are some operations a air force helicopter pilot might encounter?

Q 2: What are some steps in becoming a helicopter pilot for the USAF?

Q 3: What are the Requirements on becoming a pilot for the air force?
(I had asthma when I was 4-5 years old, will this affect my chances?)

Thanks for any help provided!

1. supply and para dropping troops, attacking (day/night), transport, patrol. If you become good enough you might be doing black operations with special forces.

2. train hard and harder, vision must be perfect, corrected vision is preferred, weight limit watch that belly, training (working out, good math and nav skills, must read the map good, work on survival training (camping and hiking).

3. 20/20 vision, must be 18 or older. If asthma still affects you now. your chances are slim.

You can still talk to a recruiter, most recruiters I know would be happy to answer your questions and would keep your name on file until you turn 18. If your asthma is gone then I don't think it will hurt you.

Here's some medical requirements for the air force:

Helicopter pilots, depending on their aircraft, can serve many different functions. Helicopters are used as troop transport, to help fight fires, to transport supplies, to extract troops and civilians, to deliver aid, to perform water rescues, and as surveillance and gunships.

At 14 you're old enough to start getting a pilot's license. It's not a helicopter I know, but you'll start learning things like walk-arounds, weather, and flight regulations. These things can only help you.

You might also see if there's an Junior Civil Air Defense group in your area or an Explorer's group that specializes in aviation.

At 14 you are in an excellent position to try for the USAF academy. You would have to have high grades and lots of extra-curricular activities (making contacts and networking). Upon graduation you would be an officer (instead of enlisted).

You might also consider the USMC, the pilots there are some of the most interesting guys I've met.

Hope this gives you a place to start

stay in school and get good marks, the rest will come when you are old enough, you cant become a pilot with poor grades.
