No I do not mean a site where I can read a discussion of the pros and cons of a particular translation. I am looking for a site where I can enter a scripture and the version of a number of translations comes up. I've been to Crosswalks but It only provides two translations at a time and you have to change translations to look at a different one. It's not very efficient.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, in advance.

Thank you all for your prompt responses. I really appreciated... yes even yours IBLIS (LOL). I've been the biblegateway and I agree it is a nice site. But I came across one last week that you entered in a verse ... and up popped the version of about 5 different translations right there on one page. I thought I'd put it in my favorites but ooops!!! :-(

Try Blue Letter Bible site (see the link below). They have some features that Crosswalks does not offer. God bless!

The site I have found most suitable for what you are asking is

http://www.e-sword.net

I have never tried to use it directly on the Internet. I downloaded it on hard drive, and then made copies for my friends!! Nothing illegal or immoral about that from THIS site.

You will need to download a shell program FIRST, then add as many (English) translations as you like. If you read other languages, you can also download Hebrew Old Testament, Greek New Testament, as well as the whole Bible in Latin, Spanish, French, etc. You may also download commentaries, such as Matthew Henry, Gill, Barnes, Clarke, etc.

It has a search engine, and once you locate the verse, you can choose "comparison", and you will see that passage in all the translations that you have on your disc. Then with one click, you can switch to commentaries.

And the service is absolutely free.

Try downloading as many translations as possible of the Bible here:

www.e-sword.com

The link gets you in the e-sword website, look up to find Bibles. There are also free dictionaries and commentaries. It's the best.
