There are so many kinds of impatience. Like getting impatient at a stoplight, being in a hurry to grow up, wishing your class would end faster, wishing the kids would go to bed sooner, etc. I find that whenever I'm impatient, I need to take a deep breath first, and then try to find something I'm very grateful for in the present. Like at a stoplight, I can be grateful for my health, or for my family, or for a great lunch I had...if the kids are taking too long to go to bed and I'm tired, I try to be grateful for who they are right at this moment. If they're rambunctious, I try to admire their strength of spirit, which will serve them well in life. I appreciate their youthful zeal, and the fact that they love me. When they've grown up and don't live with me anymore, I'll long for this moment right now. A little perspective goes a long way. And I find that there is always something to be grateful for. Impatience is merely dissatisfaction with the present, but if you look hard enough, you'll always find something that you're satisfied with.

It will come with age. It is not something that just happens overnight. The more problems you learn to deal with correctly, the more patience you will earn for yourself in the future. If you never learn how to deal with things the right way, you may never earn patience.

I think it has a lot to do with your natural tendencies, but I think over time you can develop more patience.

There are no quick fixes and so you have to know your limitations and make allowances.
