I can't get over the foul mouths I hear at bus stops and on the city busses in my city. The jr. and sr. high school students (as well as a lot of older people) do not seem to know any other way to express themselves besides the "f" word. I find I am very offended by these children and their language. I also feel upset that when I have a young child with me I don't want them listening to that. Whatever happened to respecting others?

Music, TV and society in general makes it sound that swearing is acceptable...Our job as parents is not made easy by so much outside influence our kids have..The way i overcome this is by teaching my kids how and why it is so important to be respectful of others and god bless they are angels. I always take a step back and say to myself I cant change the world we live in but I surely can be a BIG influence on how my children think.

Well unfortunately most kids think they are being "cool" when they swear. Also, they don't know how to express themselves any other way because that is what comes out of their parents mouths most of the time. As for the grownups, you're right that they should use appropriate language when in public. Society as a whole is getting worse and this is just one example.

Well might be because they hear their parents say stuff like that and so they think its okay to do so. Either that or they just hear all the other kids saying it so they dont wanna seem left out so they do it too not knowing how it makes them look. Ooor lol they are just around people who cuss all day long either way it all comes out the same way they might just be around someone who cusses all the time. Well hey check out this new 3D messenger its alot better then the others you can talk to people in 3D Well anyways hope to see ya there bbyes for now and hope I helped ya some what at least. But yeah I cuss as well so I cant really say why people do it sometimes its just out of habit i guess too.

For me, it's just something I picked up.
It was all around me at school and I kinda just adopted the habit. Especially since in middle school I was always getting chased and jumped, cursing kind of went along with those situations.

But I don't understand why they do it in public. I will never swear in front of adults I don't know, or children at all. If any swear slips from my mouth in front of an adult I apologize, and in front of a kid I dramatize it like I did something worthy of the death chair or something, so they don't try it.

Most teens have no respect at all, which is one reason I hate my "peers."

Its stupid to give a word so much power as to be "bad"... even if the teens substitute the F-word with Fricking or Hell with Heck the meaning would still be the same due to the connotation of the word.

And if these teens use these words for shock value the pure fact that you are offended by them justifies the power of the word. If people learn to ignore "foul" language the words will lose their power to elicit a response.

I have a dream that all words will be created equal

I myself am In middle school, and even though most of my friends swear but just a little but some people think they are all that by swearing so much i just roll my eyes...well those people dont get respect so you should just ignore them and you will get the respect you need...that's what i do.

Hope I really helped.

It's a novelty to them. Most of them would be in a world of trouble if they said the word at home, so they use it as freely as possible amongst their friends.

If you have a child with you, make a show of covering the kid's ears and say to the teens "Please limit that word right now, I don't want this one to learn those words yet. Thanks!" More often than not, if you ask them, and aren't preachy about it or parental, you'll get some cooperation.

because they are trying to prove to themselves and their friends they think they are all grown up. Alot of them have heard it from their parents and that's the ONLY language they seem to know. The parents need to literally have theirs mouths washed out with some of the strongest, nasty tasting soap posssible. Maybe they would stop and listen to just how bad it really sounds then maybe they would stop.

I think they just think they are almost grown-up, so they are trying to do what grown-ups do. They don't understand the respect thing yet. They must hear adults swearing a lot.
