My converstion actually started with me wanting to know more about the LDS church. I was determined to have a solid faith and be a great member for the rest of my life... ...during that process, some friends of mine started speaking with me. I used the opportunity as a way to convert them to mormonism and to build my own faith.

The harder I tried to prove the BoM and Mormonism, the more I couldn't--and the more I became confused. So I stopped talking to my bishop (who I'd been speaking with so I wouldn't be "led astray") and I stopped speaking with my friends. I continued to pray and study.

One day, God answered my prayers in an amazing way through the Holy Spirit. From then on, I knew the LDS church is false.

Even though the Holy Spirit had made things VERY clear to me, it was still very difficult to leave. I loved the church. I was an active, temple-going member. I was left not even knowing if the God I had been praying to was the real God? Or who jesus really was? It was devastating to believe something so passionately for 18 years, and then find out it's a giant lie.

I had to start by figuring out why the LDS church is false. And then I had to figure out what was true--what does true Christianity look like? Etc. The most difficult thing was not being confused by the mormon theology/doctrine when trying to figure out the truth.

It's important that your friend find a good church that she feels comfortable in. You can help her by showing her the difference between mormonism and christianity.

http://www.carm.org/mormon.htm --a great mormon to christian website.

http://www.irr.org/mit/mit-talk.html -- Mormons in transition website. Your friend can sign up for e-mails from other people leaving Mormonism. She can be a silent listener (no one knows she's listening) or she can ask her own questions.

I would also be more than happy to be there as a 3rd party friend to speak with her. I've done tons of research and have information about the Mormon church that is simply unbelievable. I can show her why Mormonism is false. Most importantly, I can help her understand what true Christianity looks like. I'd rather not post my real e-mail for all the Mormons to see-- So, please, e-mail me, and I'll sent it to you.

I left slowly.....I just started noticing things here and there.... things that didn't make sense, things that just don't seem right, things that seem a little 'satanic' in a way, and just personal feelings of discomfort in doing certain things.
I still respect a lot of its members, they are great people. Although, they can be a little 'pushy' at times, and if you're not prepared to stand up for yourself they'll 'drag you back in' :P......Well....Mormonism....It's just not for me. And eventually, one day, I DID have a life-changing experience, but would rather not mention it here.... and have ended up turning to Islam.

Your friend might be just feeling the 'pushy-ness' or the pressure to be a 'perfect mormon' etc. but really.. she has her own individual reasons for leaving, as do we all.

Grew up in the church and left as soon as I was old enough. They're crazy.

For what it's worth my brother dabbled with LDS for a while. He said he quit because they intruded on his personal life.
