I realize that some folks are ABSMALLY ignorant of of the BASIC responsibilities of dog care but how can you possibly be so arrogant (& SILLY) as to "second guess" your VET'S advice or demand a "pat-on-back" for making more MUTT/MONGRELS or REFUSE to accept the FACTS in answers to ridiculous questions?
Like.....there's NO SUCH THING as "teacup" ANYTHING!!
&...if it's a MUTT/MONGREL,it's NOT *ANY* breed & it's impossible to predict ANYTHING about it.
&....only CROOKS peddle MUTTS-on-PURPOSE.
&....Dogs do NOT have "periods"! ESTRUS is the OPPOSITE of human menstruation.
&....docking & cropping is NOT "cruel" or "mean" or any other humaniac's LYING "buzz-word".
&...list goes on & on & on & on.
I mean FACTS,not some equally ignorant "opinion".
If you need a "cootchie-coo"....go ask yo mama,OK?

You really don't think the advice here on YA is better then a vet? I mean really, Why use vet approved treatments on your 4 week old puppies for fleas, when you can be told to use Sevan dust or Boric Acid since it is soooo much cheaper!
Why would you not want to give advice on how to breed Bull-Shihs, or Jack-Shihs, or Lhasa-Shihs or some equally absurd mixed breed "designer" dog?
Why not teach people how to inter-breed unhealthy runts to each other to make smaller and smaller sick little dogs that people can say are cute and carry around like fashion accessories?
Many people who come here don't want the truth, they want someone to justify what they want to do. Those of us who want them to wake up to the damage they might cause are the"bad guys!"
Shame on us for wanting to educate people in what is right and what is wrong. And even bigger shame on those who are to ignorant to understand that!

Just one note on ear cropping just because a vet dosent crop doesnt mean they think its cuel cropping ears is not just cutting them off there is an artistic elament to it and some vets just dont know anything about it hell some vets cant identify a dog by breed i have seen it time and time again so it happens

I agree with you 100%. Especially about the cropping and docking. I think that cropping is not near as painful as having a female spayed, and I have yet to see a dog whose ears were cropped that was in more pain than a female that was spayed. If done properly it will not harm the dog and the posting causes less irritation than a spay incision. Also I have never seen a dog die after having the ears done, but I have seen them die from being neutered/spayed. Docking is done at such a young age the puppies cannot really even feel it because their nervous system is not developed, and in my experience they cry more from being held than from the actual docking.

There ARE tiny little dogs that are called tea cup but these are animals that have been bred down to "fit" people's wants. These are the Crooks if you want to call them that. Downbreeding lessens the quality of any breed .
Mutts on Purpose are people's attempt to get that cutesy little different breed that they think will sell better. . . EVERYONE wants that one of a kind anything and unfortunately will pay whatever is asked so they can brag about what they have whether it is an dog,a car,a house. . . anything. It's that "mine is better than yours" attitude.
No,done properly docking,cropping,and removal of dew claws is not cruel but again it's just another form of making a particular breed look the way one wants it to look. . . everyone has an image of what each particular breed must look like.
Animals should be for our companionship and it should not matter what breed they are or what they look like.
I have NEVER paid for a dog and some of the best dogs I have had are mutts and I haven't altered their appearance by any means. . . . I just loved them for who they were and who they are.

Its about time someone says something!! What gets me the most is the docking and cropping is cruel and inhumane. Very nicly put!

Some people do insult your questions. They assume that you don't know anything about your dog. Well......sometimes they are wrong. I asked a question once about a behavioral problem with my beagle and one person that answered me said that I should read up on beagles and know that they are not good dogs for being a house dog and that they are for hunting.
I know that beagles are hunters and that person was completely wrong when they said that beagles are not good house dogs because they are great house dogs.
So don't assume that a person's question is dumb......
No question is a stupid question.

I agree with everything you have said here. I really don't like seeing a thumbs down simply because a person doen't like your answer even though it is correct,but the person with the thumbs down has no idea that it is!!

I agree with most of what you said, but common sense will tell you that it is mean to dock a tail or crop an ear. You can't tell me it doesn't hurt. But then again, it's not much different than circumcision and people have been doing that for years. I'm just glad I never had a son and was forced to make that choice.
