You know I believe that you may have something here. There confusing all of us with these different translations but I didn't know they did it with the Authorized Version unless they are translated it from the New King James which is a counterfit Bible. I would recommend you seeking a KJV Bible that says translated from 1611. The other translation are all wrong to say for example Genesis 3:18 Old KJV states that a man should have a help meet. Where did they come up with comparable in the other translations in the NIV then they but it in the NKJV but its not in the Old King James. I think the problem is its all a money racket with this other translations. Just do a internet search and you will see all the differances between this bibles. Let me state this though if God wants you to know something all you have to do is ask in faith and he will show you. Another thing there are thousands of differences between this other translations put up against the Old King James Bible. This is the truth, just do some research and you will see.

The only Bible that does not translate John 1:1 as you stated is the New World Translation which is Jehovah's Witness. They have theological reasons for "ignoring" the actual Greek in that they do not affirm the deity of Christ.
Here is the passage from John Wycliffe's translation (1380 AD):
1 In the bigynnyng was the word, and the word was at God, and God was the word.
2 This was in the bigynnyng at God.
3 Alle thingis weren maad bi hym, and withouten hym was maad no thing, that thing that was maad.

Most Bibles -- including the Douey-Rheims were not authorized by the C of E. After all -- why would the Catholics use a C of E Bible?
