I have a bottle of grape soda and coca-cola and opened both of them earlier this week. I tried to open both of them this afternoon and the caps did not budge an inch. Now I have a sore left hand and can't try again for a while. Do you have any suggestion for me?

I tried opening it as hard as I could. I even tried holding the bottle with my legs while attempting to twist it open. I don't even think my roommate could have opened it either.

Try running the under HOT water it could be that the sugar has glued the caps on. If this do this and it dosen't work then it could be that the gasses have built up and the bottle has pressurized. If that's the case then poke a small hole near the top of the bottle to release the pressure. Good Luck and let us know what happens lol.....

Use a slightly damp cloth to help you grip the cap better, and minimise hurting your hand. Leverage will help, so a proper bottle opener may help (or failing that, a nut cracker or large pair of pliers may help.

First eat some Wheaties. Then twist the caps off using your right hand since it isn't sore. Make sure you are turning the cap in the correct direction.

punch the cap with a knife, make a tiny hole, it will release the gas trapped in and make it easy to open...
