I was at a wedding recently and they had cheesies and chip on the tables. First time I ever seen it. I though it was tacky. What do you think?

I say BBQ reception only.
Fancy hall requires fancy food. Chips and stuff look completely out of place.

I did not serve cheesies/chips at my wedding reception; but then I saved for a year and enlisted the help of a catering friend to have the spread that I did. I don't necessarily think it is tacky to have that; one never knows if it was due to budget constraints (nothing wrong with that) or if it happened to be the bride's or groom's fav food. I try not to be too judgmental. :-)

A cheese tray - okay; if done right - spectacular. Chips, cheese doodles, etc..major fauxpas in the South! Man, this caused bad flashbacks to a redneck wedding I attended with peanut butter finger sandwiches and 2 liter drink bottles...It was billed as a formal wedding and held after 5pm!

It's a bit tacky, especially in styrofoam, but as a guest I'd appreciate having something to munch on. I'm planning to have Munchie Mix or something on the tables at mine, but it's not goning to be a "fancy" wedding by any means - that's not our style.

It would depend on what the main course was. If it was sandwiches or something less formal, then the normal snacks would be cheesies and chips. If, on the other hand, they had a hot sit-down meal, cheesies & chips would be inappropriate.

I think maybe they served it because they had a smaller budget or maybe they just liked those particular foods. I think people spend ridiculous amounts of money on their weddings and receptions. I know it's a special day and all but I can't see getting so far into debt over it.
I say to each their own!

are you kidding? that is very tasteless! I would never imagine serving potato chips and cheese twists! what did they have, a barbecue wedding? everyone's different though! we had a cheese and veggie tray at ours for light snacking before dinner. my mom served chips and sandwhiches at her 3rd wedding and it drove me nuts for years! i finally ended up telling her and she thought i was crazy! she also got married in a VFW Hall, go figure!!!!!!!!!!!LOL!

I really don't see anything wrong with it....I think people should serve what they want at their wedding and what they can afford. I've seen some really memorable different weddings and enjoyed them all!!!!

If it is an informal reception I suppose there's nothing wrong with it. It's what they wanted to serve.
You're a guest-- You should be thankful for their hospitality, even if it is simpler food than you expected.
