Wait until your of legal age, then go get the tattoo. Your parents shouldn't have to pay for it.

Religious, uptight, weak, fearful ppl are against it. Also bc of the connotations from the old days that mostly only sailors, gang members, prisoners etc. had them, so if you get any you're automatically bad or freakish. But even Queen Victoria had 1 or 2. I don't see anything wrong or bad about them. Obviously they're a deeply personal choice for the wearer.

I'm an 'older' man with several tattoos. I didn't get my first one until I became of 'legal' age. It's not the pain, it's not the cost, it's the permanent nature of it. The tattoos that I have are tattoos that will be with me until the day I die, and then some! If your parents do decide to pay for it (birthday/xmas gift), just make sure that it's not something that you may regret later on down the line, little bro'. Also, you might want to think about being able to 'hide it' from time to time. At any rate, YOU will have to live with it!

Honestly, wait. I know exactly what you are going through, I wanted one when I was 17, and my mom said something similar. I actually still wanted my tattoo by the time I turned 19 and paid for a tiny one in my ankle. Now I'm a bit older, and honestly I wish I had no tattoo. It just doesn't look as cool as it did when I was younger (same for my belly piercing which I took out, and now I have a hole). I guess your mom does not want to feel responsible for you feeling like I do later on in life. She just loves you.

if i were you i would still wait. why? because i am not the same person i was when i was 15. i don't like the same things, listen to the same music, have the same friends... i have changed so much. i got my first three tattoos when i was 18 and i have even changed since then. they have all three been covered up and i have beautiful art tattoos now. it of course is your decision but i would urge you to wait.

Hey I go to OU! Interesting seeing someone else who might be there in a couple years.
Anyway, about the tattoo, get one if you want, but I would get something meaningful to you, and keep it discreet.

You need to wait until you are atleast 18 and then you want to look around and be absolutely sure on the one you want before you do it (cause it will be there the rest of your life) I have 2 I got my first when I was 25.

you're too young to even get one. legally, the age is 18. you need to be 16 with parents permission, but your tastes will change in those few years. i agree with mom. youneed to pay for it, and find something that has meaning to you. don't just get one to get one. think long and hard about what you want. how long did you actually think about it? 2 days?
i have 1, but i would never let my child get one until he/she is 18 and can pay for it themselves.
make sure it is able to be covered up by a short sleeved dress shirt for your future career.

Where I live - you have to be 18 or have a parent sign. So if your parents won't sign, you will have to wait until you turn 18.

You know, having a tattoo is a big decision. its stuck with you forever and you wouldnt know when you'll get sick of it(people do get tired of seeing the same thing again and again till they die) and want it removed,(with is freakin painful).
You better think about this and not rush too hastily. if its about being cool, unique, macho, one of the guys,whatever,.. forget about it.
Its nice having normal, unmarked skin,it leaves the impression of decency and respect to you. not that tattoed people are indecent but hey, it does,in a way affect people's point of view, this is important when applying for an important job.
If your parents cant control you anymore, go get it, a really big one, with a demonic design. its your life anyway. right?
