I shall presume you mean a battalion.
In the U.S. Army, battalion sizes vary, depending primarily on whether they are infantry, armor, airborne, etc. A battalion is two OR MORE company-sized units, and generally varies anywhere from 300 to 1,000 personnel.

That varies a lot according to the organization. I used to be in a Field Artillery battalion and it had about 500 soldiers. I've been is a logistical support battalion that had around 800 soldiers. I know of a logistics support battalion in Iraq that had ten companies assigned to it with around 1,200 soldiers which is much more than what doctrine recommends.

A batallion is headquarters, and 4 companies, headed by a Lt. Col. You are talking pretty close to about 900-1200 soldiers.

Depends on the type of unit and the country.
Battalions, Squadrons, or Regiments are all commanded by a Lt Col. and can have as few as 280 (Armour) to over 1100 (Infantry)

There is no definite number. One soldier is part of a squad. A squad is part of a platoon. A platoon is part of a company and a battalion contains several companies.
