no vanilla is no biggie- but you do need to add some kind of flavoring- or your cake will not be yummy...
you can add lemon flavoring by juicing a lemon and replacing some of the liquid with lemon juice, the peel the outside of the lemon with a potato peeler and chop it really fine (this is called "zest"- just make sure you dont get any of the pith- the white part under the skin) -- this process works for oranges, grapefruit, limes and tangeloes as well
you can add finely ground nuts... any nuts you have, just replace some of your flour with them
you can add some flavoring by dalloping some of your favorite jellies or jams... no need to adapt your recipe for this step
you can add a package of any flavored pudding mix - instant
and last but not least, nearly any strong flavored alchohol will work, liquers, rums, or schnapps

Absolutely you can! Don't worry for one moment about it. I do recommend acquiring a bottle next time you are out though. Vanilla flavoring or extract adds a much more developed flavor to the cake and other baked goods it is added to.
However, very few people would notice the difference, just makes it nicer.
Also, see if you can find "butter flavoring". I add that to everything I bake, just a teaspoon or so, and it adds the WOW effect in terms of taste! Butter Flavoring is my secret weapon!
Enjoy your cake!

P.S. I saw a suggestion to add extra sugar and just wanted to note that sugar is not a flavoring but a sweetener. Also, being a dry ingredient you may actually throw off the balance of your mix and end up with a dryer cake. Simply omitting the vanilla is fine.

You can bake without the vanilla extract, but your cake may or may not taste as good depending on how much flavoring your recipe calls for. If you are baking a yellow cake, you can probably swap out the vanilla for lemon or orange juices, grated rinds or their extracts, or you can use rum, almond or any other kind of extract. If your baking a chocolate cake, you may just consider using almond or rum. If your cake has a heavy spice base, you 'd probably won't miss the vanilla at all.

It will work, but may not taste exactly the same. I was baking a cake once and realized I was out of vanilla extract, but I found almond extract in the cabinet. So I used that as a subsitute. It worked great, and I got so many compliments on my cake!

Depending what you are making you can bake it without Vanilla. It may not have as rich of a flavor but should still be good.

You could add other flavorings instead of vanilla....like a little lemon, coffee, mocha or spice to add some flavor. Just don't add anything that has too much liquid, because it will change your recipe.

Just use another extract, like almond. You can use rum or amaretto or your favorite liquor. Or you can juset leave it out. You won't have the vanilla flavor, but it'll still be good.

It will still be good but won't be the same as if you would have had it. If you add a 1/2 cup of butter that will help.

Yes it will be fine. It just will not have a vanilla flavor. You can add other flavors like orange or spices.

Vannila extracts is more for flavor and it will not effect the baking (or flavoring that much) if you dont have it.....
