why don"t we help our fishermen like we help our farmers we need to go without our fish diets for a few years give them money to turn their boats into research vessels . They know the fishing grounds they know exactly whats happening in our sea pay them to go and police and monitor fish stocks, lets look after our fishermen like we look after farmers. no doubt we would help if we had a year of mad cod disease.

I understand your concern and it does make sense on one level.
To stop commercial fishing to rebuild the stocks is a great idea as it will only have natural predators to worry about. This should help to rebuild the stocks sooner. Also by using the fishermen in research you will have seasoned vets working with researchers and more research will get done.
This doesn't exactly sound like subsizing as the Fishermen are still working they are just getting paid to do it a different way. Subsizing would be more like farming when they are paid not to do as much or nothing at all.
Although a good idea its somewhat not practical completely. There is already enforcement agency's, Canada has Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO). This agency does the enforcement so using comercial fishermen as enforcement officers is not pratical and plus they are most likely to be the ones to violate.
What SHOULD be done is that the stocks should be put under an rigorus management system in which small quotas can be taken of certain species. Although closing the seasons for a few years is also a good idea. There is no one solution to rebuilding the fish stocks. I like your ideas but it is not practical and plus government would never do it. They would just close the season, and they did to the cod commerical fishermen in Atlantic Canada.
So its not practical but your thinking in the right direction.

If this were to happen fishermen from other countries would only fish them on the boundaries of British waters. It would also cost too much for the Navy to police it, don't forget the government are already scaling down the Naval fleet again.
I totally agree that something needs to be done, but should it not be just barring of large scale fishing as a whole rather than banning fishing all together, (Rick Stein).

hi Jamino, I concur, having farming freinds. we are not too afflicted about F&M the following in rural Bedfordshire proper this second, as issues especially are arable the most important hiccup is that between the £30,000 harvesters has packed up. No subsidy for that. Oh, i recognize that a large number of farmers are seen as prosperous landowners with a magnificent motor vehicle and farmhouse, notwithstanding the reality is that we in effortless words may have the funds for to pay ourselves sufficient to pay the expenses at the moment. i'd promote the brown land for housing, and characteristic a lengthy earnt vacation. in simple terms purchase French bread and German beer. it truly is more cost-effective than busting a intestine operating the land in England. Or take to the boat, wander up&down the geographical area & wave 2 palms at it.

do they not have tonnage limits in ENGLAND as, they do in AMERICA ? over here even the fresh water fisheries have catch and, release, daily bag limits and, slot limits. most AMERICAN fishermen are self policing. We are all about protecting our resources.
