I'm not talking about a child being responsible to clean themselves, I'm asking about when it's OK to leave the bathroom for short periods of time (going in to check on them periodically) while the child is playing in the bath. Around what age?

Probably age 5 by which time they are old enough to take a shower. I would never leave a child unattended in a bath tub just like you wouldn't leave them alone around any body of water. I would say age 4 or 5 but not for more than one minute.

Depends. There are more dangers involved than drowning. For example, if the child would turn the hot water on accidentally or on purpose and the water was hot enough to scald them. Or the child might try to get out of the bathtub and fall. So, what I'm trying to say is that only you can judge whether your child is ready to be left alone in the bath.

I would say when either the child is completely potty trained or 5 years old depending on their emotional and physical development. I mean a child who can't take care of himself and who cannot stand up if the water becomes bothersome or he feels uneasy should not be left alone but a 5 year old normally needs some extent of privacy.

We don't have a bath but our 4 and 6 yr old take showers by themselves and clean themselves. All I do is turn on the water and put some soap in a cup. They wash themselves and when the timer goes off they turn off the water grab a towel, dry off and come out. They love it cause it gives them alone time.We do hear them if they hollor so we don't check on them that often.

I'm pretty tough on parental responsibilities, and I've *always* believed that you don't leave them alone in the bath to play until they are old enough to be in the bath alone to clean themselves.

i imagine he's high-quality to be on my own for slightly. My youngest is 3.5 years previous and that i let him play contained in the bathtub with information from himself. Our purely bathing room is interior website of the livingroom. at the same time as he changed into youthful i might want to go away the door open so i might want to be certain his head. I not in any respect left him on my own earlier about 18 months, even if it meant having an older baby "watch" him for a couple of minutes. Now the door is a aspect way close for privateness, yet i will let him play and basically call out to him each and every couple of minutes. at the same time as he's able to bathe he demands me so i'm able to bathe him.

5 ish is good. Check on them every 30-60 seconds. Also, at 5, they should be able to clean themselves pretty well.. just supervise.
