When my Arberesh grandmother was going out and we'd ask her where she was going she'd answer with a smile, "I'm going to tahora." I always guessed she was joking that she'd been invited to the manor house, a place she'd have been unlikely to be invited to in her home village of Santa Christina, Sicily. Was I right?

Tahora is the name of a couple of small settlements in New Zealand.

I guess what she wanted to say was something like "Mind your own business" but in a soft and nice way.
