I caught a 16.2 largemouth on a 3/4 tilapia colored "Bass Mex" spinnerbait at a lake in Winters, Texas. This fish was caught from the bank in June of 2001 in 9 -10 channel running right next to the shoreline. She had eyes bigger than a quarter and protruded from her head almost 1/2 an inch. This marvelous beauty was photographed and released immediately afterwords. The state record for Texas is 18.18 so this post spawn female could have possibly been a new state record had I caught her before she had spawned out. I don't expect to improve on catching any bigger bass, but if I could I certainly would like to.
Also, I was using a 7 1/2 foot BPS flipping stick with 20lb Berkley Big Game line. Anything less would have been like taking a knife to a gunfight. I have heard that big fish don't fight as hard...well this one was all I could handle.
Best of luck in your fishing adventures.

12lbs 1 oz...caught it on Ft Gordon, GA in May 03. I was using a black with silver flake senko, Texas rigged...on a spinning reel...it was a good fight...and she is on my wall...I know what a lot of people are going to say, should have let it go, but it was the only bass I have kept in like 15 years and it was old enough to have spawned at least 12 or 13 times...and it was in a pond...I bass fish all the time and have caught many between 4 and 8 pounds...I am now learning to catch spotted bass...those are fun...=)~

24 1/4" 15lb 7 oz female on a pumpkinseed tube and 8 pound line. (released the fish...she was full of eggs) Got lots of pictures though. No citation because I released the fish. It wasn't a state record so it really didn't matter to me)
