I am feeding an 11-month-old and a three year old. I am ready to get the 11-mo off of baby food but am afraid I won't get him the best nutrition!

I feed my 12 month old a lot of low-salt canned vegetables. I don't heat them up or anything, just open the can, drain and serve.

I also feed her a lot of whole grain bread, pasta and rice. Throw a piece of cheese on a whole grain tortilla and you've got a sandwhich.

We also do a lot of scrambled eggs/whites in our house. It's easy and most kids love them.

I also do tofu chunks with low sugar preserves and any soft fruit/veggie I have on hand - avocado, bananas, cooked potatoes.

I'd be careful with pre-packaged foods like the Gerber Graduates mentioned above. They usually have a lot of salt/sugar in them. Those are fine once in a while, you were asking for "best nutrition" and those aren't the greatest. Also the ones that are just the vegetable - they are the same as a canned version of the same thing but they are much more expensive per serving.

I have a daughter who is one and a half. When she went off of baby food I usually tried to give her what we were eating, just chopped really small. Most foods I found she was okay with. When it came to foods like steak that she could have issues with, I kept gerber graduates on hand for her. Talk to your pediatrican and they can help advise you on these issues. I also found that when "cheating" and making er something fast and easy like mac and cheese, because we ALL have those days, toss in some frozen veggies to add nuitrician!

Oh the yummiest stuff are those gerber graduates. If I could I'd just eat them for myself because they are healthy and they taste really good! They are a good transition from the baby food.

Oatmeal w/ a little brown sugar & cinnanmon
Grits w/ cheese
Soft pasta for mac and cheese
mashed potatoes
I make egg noodles and pour in a can of cream of mushroom soup. Just smash it up.
I also make green bean casserole and kinda smash it up.
you just have to go with what they can eat for a while but soon they'll be eating everything.

If you are making your own foods, you can give them anything good just puree it. If you like chicken breast and green beans, puree it for your baby. They usually appreciate seasoned foods.

pasta, toast with fruit on it, quesadillas, melons, cheerios, mashed beans, shredded cheese, bananas cut in little pieces, steamed veggies, and basically anything you eat cut in small pieces.
