BOXING IS BRUTAL. IT APPEALS TO MAN'S PRIMAL INSTINCTS. MY WIFE HATES IT BUT I LOVE IT. THERE SHOULD BE MORE SAFEGUARDS TO ELIMINATE BOXING DEMENTIA. WHEN FIGHTERS GET OLD THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO RETIRE.

i love boxing. i'm a girl and i've never boxed, but i've thought about getting into it more than twice... but then re-thought the idea and decided I liked my face and enjoyed having my brain. I agree with you that it is definately a brutal sport.
I think I've always liked it since the first time I saw Rocky when I was a kid. I've worked with the olympic boxers before however... and most of them are not stupid.
I think it's a way of getting out hate and anger. I'm going to get a punching bag put in the basement... there is nothing as satisfying as hitting something with all the force you can put out. :)

After reading your Question/Opinion of Boxing, it became quite clear that your nic "peter pan" is undoubtedly perfect for you seeing as how it would indicate your existence in a "fantasy land". No Offense.
Athletes can die in almost any sport you can think of just about. Whether professional, amateur or even leisure. Look at Jim Fixx, who died of a heart attack while running, and he wrote a book on the benefits of running.
Or how about football, Stone Johnson was a 22yo rookie with the Chiefs. During a "Pre-Season" game against the Raiders, Stone was tackled during a kick return. The ferocious nature of the tackle and resulting impact caused vertebrae in Stone's neck to fracture and damaged his spinal cord. Ten days after the tackle, Stone Johnson was dead at 22.
Even in hockey, Bill Masterton after being checked by two players from the opposing team, fell backward hitting his head violently on the ice. A large pool of blood began to flow onto the ice. Masterson was rushed to the hospital but the damage to his brain was too severe, he was dead two days later.
Don't get me wrong, I am not anti- any sport. The three examples are just to show, as my Dad used to say, "chit happens".

I love boxing. No offense taken. At first it does seem like they are just killing each other. But after you get into it and see that it is as scientific and mental as it is physical. Boxers are some of the best athletes out there. UFC and MMA is way more brutal but millions love that to. Lesson: Violence sells!!

boxing is a science, boxing is a way out of poverty , some people who do well finacially in boxing give back. is it any worse than nascar when they run each other off the track? is any worse than hockey where each man has false teeth..how do you think they lost them? how excited do you get when the quaterback gets sacked? how about when baseball clubs clear the dug-out and meet at the pitchers mound..do you jump out of your seat and yell; left, right ,uppercut? there is anger and voilence in every sport.

That is your take and I respect it. Boxing is an artform practiced for centuries. Just watching two people battle it out to see who is better is great to watch.
