What is the best equivalent program to (mac the ripper) for pc windows and linux.
And what is the best equivalent program to (dvd2one) for Linux.

Here's a page with several Windows DVD ripping programs:
http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_decrypter.cfm. Another program commonly used (in violation of it's licensing agreement) is DVD Decrypter.

These programs are getting harder to find as legislation, acquisitions and legal threats limit their usage. Still, if you want, them, search on www.google.com and they are still out there.

Linux DVD Shrink allows you to recompress a dual-layer DVD to a single layer DVD under Linux. See:
