I am a coffee drinker myself, however I don't know what it is about coffee that I like! It tastes bitter to me, but yet I still drink it and I like it! I drink it black, and I usually prefer a dark roast. Does anyone else crave the bitter taste of coffee???

It's a warm drink.
It's fun to eat and drink things, period.
It wakes up up and gives you energy if you need it.
It's a pleasant thing you're allowed to do in the workplace that's not officially work but fully allowed as well.
Finally, it's a habit.

I don't like black coffee because I think it tastes nasty. The only coffee I drink is with sugar and flavor added. I personally get it from a vending machine that sells coffee and hot chocolate. People crave it because it gives them a quick boost of energy. It is good once in a while, but not everyday.

Personally, I find coffee delicious, but that was not always the case. The first time I tried coffee, I didn't like it, it was too bitter. But it's an acquired taste - once I started drinking coffee regularly, I came to like it a lot. Now it is a necessary part of my morning.
The "acquired taste" phonomenon is not limited to coffee, either - for instance, beer was an acquired taste for me, as well.

The aroma has a lot to do with it. Even people who don't like the taste of coffee like the aroma, and for drinkers the smell offsets the unpleasantness of the taste.

I do like the bitterness as well. I prefer dark roasts, Kenyan, Indonesian and Hawaiian blends. If I get soda, it's usually diet b/c I prefer the bitterness.

I crave coffee, but don't waqnt ti bitter! You may be buying too dark of a roast, or brewing it too strongly.
Personally, I like a like roast brewed strong. Mmmmm!
The caffeine addiction may keep you going back for more, too!

i've never tasted a drop of coffee in my life. try adding sugar if its bitter? do people do that?

They like it because it wakes them up in my opinion. It is addictive just like a drug i guess.
