I am finishing our basement and am undecided how to cover up the electrical junction box. We have thought about bi-fold doors or a painting. I am wondering if anyone has run into this and how they took care of it.

We usually have the carpenters put a set of cabinet doors over it. Remember all junctions must be accessible. If you want something more decorative, your imagination is the limit. Good luck.

our basement is paneled and we just made a frame from trim. a piece of paneling is fit into the frame, it is 1/2" taller than the frame. the opening under the frame is 1/4" deep at the bottom and 3/4" at the top. just slide it up and in, then drop it down and in. you can put a handle on it like we did, or a knob. hope this helps, good luck.

When I was shopping for a home, one owner did put a painting over a box. It was located in a bedroom, and she mounted the painting on hinges for easy accessability. You would never know the box was there. Neat!

It depends on the room....cuz you need to be able to access the panel - if you blow a circuit...anything that blends into the room without being obvious is the best answer. I think that you have answered your own question within your own question.....

We hung a rug that we had brought back from Mexico over it...any decorative rug, a quilt.... it has to be easy and quick to remove for safety reasons...

You can build a decorative cabinet around it.
