Pasta
1. Fill the largest pot you have with water.
2. Add anywhere up to a handful of salt. Most Americans do not add salt, whereas Italians add about a handful.
3. Place it on the cooktop.
4. Turn the knob to high.
5. When the water starts bubbling up at the surface (the technical term for this is "boiling"), dump the container of pasta into the pot.
6. Agitate it slightly with a long serving spoon, preferable one with slots or holes in it.
7. Keep your eye on it as it continues to boil and stir it just enough to prevent the pasta from sticking to the bottom every 1-2 minutes.
8. When it's been boiling for about 7 or 8 minutes (check the package for suggested cooking time), take a piece of the pasta out and taste it.
9. If it's too hard to bite or tastes funny when you bite it, it needs to cook a little longer.
10. When it's chewy but firm in the center, it's ready. This is referred to as al dente in Italian.
11. Empty the entire pot of pasta into a colander.
12. Shake out the excess water.
13. Cover with your favorite sauce.

Most pasta comes with directions on the package. Different varieties need different cooking times.
Boil a large pot of water. Once boiled at your pasta and stir. Stir about every 4-5 minutes. Most pasta requires about 10-15 minutes of cooking.
Once its done, and you can take a piece out and eat it to see if it's cooked enough, put a strainer or collander in the sink and pour the pot into the strainer. Drain well. Sometimes it helps it keep from getting sticky if you pour a little called water over the drained pasta. Now eat it how you like it, with tomato sauce, or cheese sauce, or plain or with butter or .......

Homemade Pasta

1-1/2 cups all purpose flour
1-1/2 cups Semolina flour
3 eggs
pinch of salt
1 Tbsp. olive oil

Sift flour into a mixing bowl with salt. Beat eggs.

Gradually add eggs and oil to flour, very slowly, mixing with a spoon. As mixture becomes lumpy, begin to press together and knead with your hands. If mixture seems too dry and grainy, add one Tbsp. of water at a time until mixture holds together into a ball.

Removing dough from the mixing bowl, begin to knead dough for 2 minutes on a lightly floured board or table top

Cut dough in halves, cover bowl with a dampened cloth and allow dough to rest for 30 minutes.

Roll out on a floured surface to desired thickness or roll thru a pasta machine. Dry slightly before using.

Note: Very important. . . Allowing the dough to rest will improve the texture of the pasta when finished

Are you talking about making homemade pasta? Or the store bought. For store bought, you add it to boiling water and boil it for about 10 minutes. To make homemade noodles, here's a recipe:

1 beaten egg
2 tbsps milk
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup flour

In a mixing bowl, combine egg, milk and salt. Stir in enough of the flour to make a stiff dough. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. On a floured surface, roll out dough into a 16x12 inch rectangle. Let stand 20 minutes. Roll up loosely; cut into 1.4 inch slices. Unroll;cut into desired lengths. Spread out and let dry on a rack for 2 hours. Store in airtight container till ready to use. Drop noodles into a large amount of boiled salted water or soup. Cook uncovered, 10-12 minutes or till done. Makes 3 cups.
