If you marry you are entitled to apply for immigration and eventually for citizenship, but none of that is automatic. It's easy to marry in Canada, but getting married has nothing to do with staying there legally.

If you marry a canadian you can obtain canadian citizenship, but I don't believe that you are granted it automatically. I recommend looking up the canadian federal government web page on immigration.

I don't know what your plans are after marriage but I do know that it is a tight process to gain the right to live and work in Canada.

only problem would be if you spoke like a loud moth Yankee in public, as you will get a stern looking at from the people around you.
(that's about as hostile as we get in public)
