My younger brother lost his job. He is evicted from his apartment for not paying rent. He has a wife and 2 children, age 4 and 2. He said that he wanted to stay with me for 2-3 weeks (until he can be on his own feet).

So he moved to my house, 2 weeks passed, 3 weeks passed, and now 2 months passed. He just watches TV and drinks bear all day. I do not think that he or his wife is really trying hard enough to find a job. I can not take it any more, though I love him and his family dearly.

What should I do ?

Unfortunately, they are walking all over you and you're the one allowing this behavior to continue. You're enabeling them. Sit down with them and tell them that you are not happy with the situation. Give them a deadline and stick to it. If you have to, throw them out. Call a family member, police, child services, or someone, for help if they are not able to care for their children properly. It's called "tough love." It's sad that things come to this but you're the only one who can do something about it.

1) Start watching Yes, Dear on TBS Monday-Friday, 4:00 PM.

2) Circle some classified ads and tell them they both have to take some initiative. Volunteer to drive them to the interviews and write recommendations and take care of the kids and such.

3) Don't give them the opportunity to sit around and drink beer and watch tv all day. Tell them that they cannot watch tv during "work hours" and specify the hours that you work. And dnot' stock your fridge with beer.

4) Learn for next time that 2 weeks is never 2 weeks.

5) Tell your mom. She should know about how even though you love him, he's created a slight imposition for you.

you should talk to your brother and reinterate thathe stated that he only needed a couple of weeks which by the way was not a realistic goal however he is there and you are frustrated you need to tell your brother how u feel as well as give him a realistic deadline to be a man and take care of his family.this has nothing to do with whether you love your family or not this is about your brother

Have a serious conversation with them.
Give them a deadline.
If they're not out by that time, take serious measures.
Call the police if necessary.

I believe that you've done a good thing for letting them stay, but you're human and you have patience. It sounds like your patience is running out, so act fast before you lose your mind.

Tell them to get jobs and get the heck out. People can't be helped if they don't help them selves. I hate blood suckers.
