It would be very hard to keep it a secret, people would notice the new car/ house/boat, the permanent tan and the bling. I have a friend that won the lottery. It was a nine day wonder at the time, now they just get on with their lives a lot more comfortably. I would probably do the same.

What...in the United Kingdom? Don't even think about it. Our favourite pastime other than insecurity is envy - and if you had bust-ups with family - old partner, expect the condition known to one and all as 'Run To The Sun' affect the people who you couldn't get on with - or vice versa, as tabloid papers love this sort of story - and thus would be digging out anything concerning you - be it a wee police matter 40 years ago, or your 'gay' period during your late teenage years. Then of course there are average friends who might not give you a minute of peace...or just as odd - find some who would not go anywhere near you, pre-empting how you might treat them if they did. Could go on all night stressing the dangers of letting British public know - but keeping it to yourself (as bad as that itself may be to your wee head) might be best until you're brought back to earth with time.

Not likely. I'd keep it a secret and once I had my 7 bedroom log cabin built I'd say I was going on holiday and just move and never come back. I'd send anonymous cheques to friends though and I'll give my dad half of whatever I win so he can retire.

I'd make it known but I'd only say that I won like $3000.
And keep the rest a secret.

Certainly not. I wouldn't even tell most of my, or my husbands family. I know i would forever get them visiting me, whereas now i see them very rarely. Theres a couple i would help out that i know would keep there mouths shut, and i'd also help my 2 children out.

No!! I would remain anonymous!! I wouldn't want everyone knowing that I had lots of money because I would then always be wondering if future friends/partners had alternative motives for being part of my life!! And also I am one of those people you has no desire to be famous!!

It's all down to personal choice.

It is great that people can have the opportunity share their stories and joys of winning.

It is equally good that you can claim your prize and keep your identity private.

Oh yes,
I'd give some to people that have helped me out, and to charity,
Then i'd make sure that the people that have made my life a misery at times would find out.
