I've been told that brain cells do not reproduse like other cells such as skin. How can a person overcome brain damage if this is true?

You die with the same number of brain cells you were born with, unless there is damage of some sort.
Persons with severe brain injury never regain full function. Therapy with this population focuses on rudimentary communication, family education, mobility, and basic personal care. Parts of the brain that have escaped injury can learn to compensate for the functions of the injured areas, to some extent.
Once the patient is awake and out of the ICU, therapy will begin. There should be physical and occupational therapists and speech pathologists working with the patient and his/her family, as well as the caregivers.

NO it does not reproduce. Rather the brain creates new neuron pathways to work again. How do I know? Because a Rehab Doc told us after hubby had stroke and he is better. Healing as such takes time.

no. brain damage is ussually irreverasble but then agin it does depend on the amount of damage done. brain cells do not reproduce so thats why it is so important. recemtly a family memeber of mine has had brain surgery to try to save his life but unfortunalty there was slight damage done to his brain during the process and it affected his motor funtions. so the anser to your qquestion is no ussually you cannot heal after major damage.
