Suicide means to end one's life because they do not see any other means to carry on. If one talks to someone who wants to commit suicide you will see that this person doesn't want to end thier life perse, it is a means to an end, a way to stop the pain and the hurt. Many describe ending the darkness.
Smoking is a horrible horrible addiction and yes, it goes against God's will for us, since our bodies are temples. but in your question one should ask then... if you die from complications to over eating, lyposuction, cosmetic surgery... would God punnish you?
People have addictions that they may or may not be aware of, it's part of our sinful nature, and God takes into account for that, it has nothing to do with suicide. Suicide is something totally different all together, and in scripture you will see that suicide is a blantant contradictory act to a believer. It is enacting your free will over God's and says to Him, you are a liar, life isn't going to get better. In scriputre Samuel decided to fall on his sword rather than be taken into custody from the enemy, something which God allowed as punnishment... not his suicide, but falling into the hands of the enemy. Instead of being tortured which would have lead to his death, and repent of his sins during such time, he took his life without repenting.
Suicide is always a last resort and many who attempt do not succeed on thier first try. But those that do, it leaves a horrible lasting legacy for those they leave behind. It is an act out of desperation, and a lack of hope. Suicide isn't a cure, and it deserves our compassion to those who see this as thier only choice.

Your posted question in not only an insult to God but poses a danger to those who are confused about this issue. God does not want anyone taking a life, not others, and not their own, simply because life is hard. No where in the bible does it say that life was going to be "a cake walk"! Suicide is just wrong period.
If someone was considering suicide and your posted question with its poor attempt at a logical comparison using smoking as your arugement could lead to someone killing actually themselves, their blood would be on your hands before the Lord.
A suicidal person is looking for just one justifyable excuse in their already unstable mind for them to take their life, and you just gave it to them.
Luke 9:23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
The cross that Jesus is referring to here is the trials and hard times in life. He shall be going through them together with those who live for Him. Suicide is not an option.
People who smoke are addicted to the nicotine inside the cigarette. Inspite of the fact that it can cause cancer and death in some, it is not an instantious taking of a persons' life the way suicide is.
There is no turning back for a suicidal person who succeeds. But people who smoke or drink or even due drugs, or even those that are addicted to sex which eventually can lead to death due to AIDS, have that opportunity to learn to quit that bad habit, and repent of that sin of polluting their temple body. A suicidal person who succeeds cannot repent of that sin, because they died!

Smoking doesnt kill you NOW, like shooting yourself in the head. Everyone, smoker or not, is 5 times more likely to die in a car accident than a smoking related illness. People dont smoke with the intentions of dying, and since we see there are many old people who smoke, chances are it wont kill you anyway. Things like trans fats, big macs and cars are more likely to shorten your life.

The body is God gift to you to spend your life in and enjoy the world in your vehicle... If you smash it purposely it is suicide and you will have to answer for what you did to protect and prevent the fatal final answer... whether you enjoy it or not
