several reasons

1. charity- I give those to my local charity and the manufacturer will give them a small amount of money. Its a good deal for all of us.

2. rebates- i have saved thousands of dollars over the years- you have to mail it in to get the money back- and trust me its worth an hour and 37 cents per item for several hundred dollars back.

3. coupons- I used them on only items I purchase and often will send them IN to get more coupons to prove loyality.

Many folks "joke" or make funof me- Yet I dont' have any credit card debit and can pay cash for almost anything! Try that sometime! That is one of the ways I got here.

sometimes there are rebates where you get money back for buying or sometimes you can redeem them for things. betty crocker had a thing for a while that you could redeem Proof of purches for things like dishes and utensils

some companies offer rebates, incentives and rewards programs, that are redeemable by sending in UPC's from their product packaging
