Lice and small fleas don't transfer between different animals types.
A person can't get bird lice. A person can get lice but it is not the same as bird lice. A dog does not get bird lice either. A dog's flea wont even be able to live on a human. A person can get bitten by a flea but this flea would then jump off after determining that the person is not a dog. A bird also cant get infected with human head lice. Humans can get two different types of lice and even these do not affect share territory on the host.
The stepdaughter can only have got lice from another human, maybe at school. School is the most common place to get infected with lice.

RE:
Can lice from a bird infest a human?
My stepdaughter got lice and her mom thinks she got if from our house because we have two parakeets. But none of us that live here have lice. Everything I've read says that bird lice are incapable of living on humans.

My sister and I got lice from a pet chicken that was kept in the house over the winter, but I think that was an anomaly. It doesn't really matter where the kids got lice, they should be treated for it as though they're human lice, and they'll go away. They most likely got them from someone at school!

I would fallow what you read because it could be possible that birds that have lice can give it to humans. If you touch a bird that has lice it will rub off or come off on you giving you some or all the lice.

Wow, what a bad excuse. All lice are designed to live in different environments, and human head lice ABSOLUTELY CANNOT be received from parakeets.

No, feather lice and human lice are two different parasites. They do not transfer from one to another.

NO WAY!!!! Sounds like mom wants to be a problem for you. Her daughter probably got it at school or day care. It runs rampant in both places. Just buy the proper shampoo and comb those nits away. Tell your daughter's mom to back off and quit blaming everything that may go wrong in child rearing to the "other" parent, it's just life, don't be jealous just move on.

I believe that people can't catch diseases that animals have caught.
