Do most people get married in their hometown? Or where they live now? I've lived here for nearly seven years, and my fiancee has lived here for four. I always assumed I'd get married back home but there are pros and cons to both (tradition & family location vs. friends and co-workers & convenience)
Any thoughts?

I got married where I resided. Because where I reside is "home" where I use to live "was home". If you have more friends back home then you do where you currently live and can take the time out to return to your hometown to make all the arrangements, including finding flowers, the wedding cake, the site, the officiant, so on and so forth go for it. I couldn't so I had it where I live now it was more convenient for me

Do you still maintain the relationships you have in your hometown? If you are not too close to the people there anymore, your wedding day may not be as joyful and you'd like it to be. Consider having a wedding where you live, then go back to your hometown for a reception before you take off for your honeymoon.

And does your finance come from the same hometown? If not, then your finance would not feel comfortable at all being amongst strangers. You should definitely take that into consideration too and this is even more important.

If you choose somewhere that has no relation to where are or lived for either of you.You may end up with a lot less guests than you wanted. That may be a good thing with a budget. But if done really smart a wedding won't have to be completely broke or your parents.Less guests means you won't have everyone there you wanted.I mean family and close friends have to be there but if it's something they can't do to location.

in your situation, generally you would pick the location that would require the least amount of guests to travel. Of, you could have a wedding in one place and then two receptions: one back home for those freinds/family and then one were you live now.

I'm getting married in my hometown because it's easier for friends and family to get to, I have a lot of happy memories there, it will be cheaper because we can use my parent's home for the reception, and it's nostalgic! :)

Wherever you want...... Maybe consider a location half-way from where you live now and "back home" that way travel isn't only from direction.

It depends on the couple. You and him have to compromise on which place to get married at.
