I just posted these two as another answer, but they're absolutely delicious and taste gourmet.

Fry some peeled shrimp in a tablespoon or two of olive oil with some garlic (powder or fresh) and Lowry's Salt. Boil some pasta, drain, then pour the shrimp, along with the oil and seasonings, into the pasta and mix. Then make a salad or boil your favorite veggie and serve.

If you're allergic to shellfish, though, I have another widely-loved dish:

Boil some round steak or roast, cut into two inch cubes (or you can do it with chicken too) in a corresponding amount of water and with salt, pepper, onions, and cumin.

When the beef is cooked, put it aside and grab a clove or two of garlic, some fresh onion, some cumin, some curry, and some salt and pepper. Put all of them into a food processor. It should be about a third of a cup of this paste. Put this paste into a medium sized frying pan with some olive oil and fry for a few minutes. Then add in a can of tomato paste. Mix everything up.

Take a big pot and pour in four to six cups of long grain rice, the tomato paste mixture, and the beef and broth until the rice is covered by an inch and a half of broth/tomato mixture. Mix and bring to a boil, then turn it to low and cover the pot for about a half hour. If you want to, you can add peas, carrots, corn, beans, whatever you please to the pot before covering it.

After twenty minutes, check on the rice. fold it around and see if you need more broth or if you need to drain more than a little bit out. Wait ten more minutes, then taste it. The rice should be neither soggy nor crispy. If it tastes done, it's ready to be served. If it is crispy now, add some broth and let it steam a little longer, if it is soggy now, use a wooden spoon to get all the soggy rice to the top and heat it uncovered for a little bit.

If you don't want leftovers, and since it's for two, you can cut the rice dish ingredients in half and it'll be perfect. However, we always want leftovers. :P

ok this is easy. get a small beef roast and sprinkle it with some salt and pepper. next put it in a roasting pan or something oven safe. throw in some little potatoes and sprinkle everything witha package of liptons french onion soup mix. it gives everything a wonderful flavor. put water in the pan too and cover with a lid or foil bake at 350 degrees for about 2.5 hours depending on how well or rare you like your meat. you can also steam some carrots as a side dish. when you take the roast and potatoes out
save the water and make gravy with it. i am sure this will score you big points and impress the heck out of your fiance. good luck

Start by getting one of those rotisserie chickens from the supermarket and surround it with home cooked vegetables and finish with a great dessert.

You could boil some potatoes (without even bothering to peel them), then fry up some onions to a golden brown, and then mash them together with some milk and butter for a home-style mashed potato side dish. Get one of those bags of flash frozen vegetables and pour them into boiling water for a few minutes to soften them and top with slivered almonds from a bag or a can.

Then either buy a very rich little cake (sized for two) from an in-store bakery or make an easy strawberry shortcake dessert. For the shortcake, buy some short cake, strawberries, and frozen whip cream (mix in a little vanilla extract to make it taste like homemade) and make individual strawberry shortcakes in a couple of small dishes.

Pick up a bottle of wine to go with the meal for an extra touch of class.

Well since you aren't too experienced at cooking..the simplest that i know of and usually a guy really likes it..Baked chicken with either a stuffing or a rice dish, some kind of veggie (whatever he is partial to).. i prefer green peas myself or steamed brocoli and carrots...then a nice salad and for dessert..a good old fashioned apple pie (Mrs. Smith's in the frozen section is good) Now i know a lot of folks will say..NO NO..make it yourself. but since you are not experienced this is a good starter. OH and don't forget the crescent rolls!

Top with remaining 3 noodles and the remaining sauce. Sprinkle with remaining 1-1/4 cups mozzarella cheese and remaining 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Cover tightly with greased foil.
BAKE 45 min. Remove foil; continue baking 15 min. or until center is heated through (160°F). Let stand 15 min. before cutting for easier serving.

P.S. I always top this with loads of extra cheese...make sure to buy extra!!

Let me start by saying this doesn't really taste like pumpkin...it's just really good and creamy. It's not spicy either. It's very very good. I hope you try it!

Pasta with Creamy Pumpkin Sauce

1 pkg. (16 oz.) penne pasta, uncooked
1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, cubed
1/2 cup KRAFT 100% Grated Parmesan Cheese
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine
1/2 cup milk
1 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 tsp. ground red pepper
Ground nutmeg to taste

COOK pasta as directed on package.
MEANWHILE, place cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, butter and milk in large saucepan; cook on low heat until cream cheese is melted, stirring frequently. Add pumpkin and spices; cook until heated through, stirring occasionally.
ADD pasta; toss lightly. Serve topped with additional Parmesan cheese, if desired.
