I'm currently going through the process of getting rid of some fairly bad jock itch, so I might be able to be of some help. First of all, after you shower, get out the hairdryer to thoroughly dry between your legs. It'll only take a few minutes. Then apply some anti-fungal cream the areas. If like me and you are itching all over, it might even be an idea to trim down your pubic hair a bit so you can get the cream onto the skin a little better. To keep it dry after you are dressed, I find that some foot powder/spray (found at the chemist with the anti-fungal creams) sprayed into the underwear helps keep the moisture away. After a couple of days the itching goes down a lot. Once it is gone, keep up the drying and cream for a couple of weeks to make sure it stays away.

Hope this helps :)

Do look into over the counter jock-itch sprays. But also, consider what might be making this worse. For instance, are you wearing boxers, which "breathe" better, or briefs, which are more likely to hold in moisture? Stick with boxers and relaxed-fit pants or shorts. Another tip: my brother (a jock) often uses a hair dryer to dry out the pubic hair / balls-area after showers and activities in which he sweats a lot. My point is, keep the area DRY. Good luck. Fungal infections are no fun, so I empathize.

Jock itch or Tinea Cruris is a fungal infection, not bacterial (although if you scratch it, it is possible to get a bacterial infection on top of it)
there are a lot of anti-fungal meds sold over-the-counter. First line treatment is usually Lotrimin (clotrimazole topical).
Don't remember which are over the counter but you can ask the pharmacy, they come in ointment or spray.
Good luck

SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!!!!!! You can try some over the counter stuff. I recommend Lamisil but if the fungus is really out of control you may need a prescription.
