Why would there be a Satan? Why wouldn't he want to live in paradise for eternity rather than hell? Also, does Satan run hell or is he just an inhabitant. If he runs hell it would seem like God and him have a plan worked out where he'll take all of heaven's rejects. But he couldn't possibly run hell because God sent him there because he was being bad... to be punished, not to mess around and try and get other people to come there.

I'm confused. Any opinions?

There is no satan. The xians (christians) made it all up to scare people because they were straying away from "the faith". "Satan" merely means "adversary".

When Satan was in heaven, he became prideful and instead of wanting to praise God and worship Him, he wanted all the glory. God got angry and cast him out of heaven. Because one of the seven detestable things God hate is Haughtiness. Hell was created for Satan and followers. But after man sin, and allowed Satan to use them, then it was unthinkable for man to live with God under the influence of Satan. Jesus came to wash you clean from the stain of sin so that you can see God. Satan isn't over hell, he just wants as many people to go as possible because he knows he's already doomed, because He'll never repent and turn to Jesus. So in the end all the people who are in Hell now will have to face God and give an acoount and then this determine whether you go to Heaven. You will see God...no matter how good you are or bad. The thing is the ones that will not live with God will now realized they messed and they will be too late.

Best thing is to go to the bible to find the answers. To begin with, Satan was called Lucifer, which means, son of the morning, and was the most honored angel in Heaven when he was made. By pride he was corrupted and he does know the end but wants to take as many of Gods people with him as he can get. He is not burning now as Hell has not begun yet. You can read that in the bible too so don't just take what anyone tells you but read it for yourself. He will be just another inhabitant when it does burn and will be burned up with all those that follow him. For a good study on this as well as other things of the bible, go to the link below and click on the studies.

How about God is All - which means both good and evil. To say God doesn't include evil is to say God isn't all powerful doesn't it? If God doesn't include evil, there is a complete half of All that is NOT under his control - what blasphemy to imply God isn't the ultimate authority in any way - even when it comes to evil. Heaven is the good aspect, hell is the bad aspect. Lucifer is simply his representative ('evil' aspect) in hell.

How can God be almighty, all powerful, encompass everything that is WITHOUT encompassing all that is evil?

Perhaps its Man's interpretation OF good and evil (by definition - a fallible viewpoint) that has it 'wrong' so to speak. Is there really good and evil or is that just a separation Man defined as a tool to help understand the unknowable All That Is - IE God?

Do we as people really have hubris on such a level that we would even think of classifying that idea as wrong?

Who is going declare with absolute certainty this theory is wrong..... Another FALLIBLE human being? To do so is to limit All That Is and thus to limit God.

That's okay, I think your questions are good ones. In the bible (which should be our source of information about things pertaining to God), satan was described as an angel who tried to exalt himself higher than God Himself and was cast out of heaven. A third of the angels went with him. I have also wondered, here he is, in the very presence of God, getting a big head. There is no going back for this fallen angel, who is now satan. The bible tells us what his end will be, he will be cast into the lake of fire. The bible does not say that satan will be "in charge" of hell. But you can be sure one of the reason satan hates us so much is that God loves us so much. That is why satan is trying as hard as he can to lead as many people as he can away from Jesus Christ, the only way to heaven. Satan wants as much company in hell as he can find.

As in everything else in life, spiritually, there is good and evil. Satan was the original evolutionist. He thinks that he can be God. That is why he lost his place as the guardian cherub. (Ezekiel 28)

He doesn't run hell. He is known as the "god of this world." (II Corinthians 4:4)

As to what he has to gain, he knows that his time is short. (Revelation 12:12) In the meantime, he seeks to destroy those made in God's image, as a way of causing much sorrow and grief to God. Some have even postulated that Satan is using them as hostages, trying to get God to relent.

When the end comes, Satan and his angels and prophets will be cast into a lake of burning sulfur. Then, at the judgment, those who rejected God in this life will join them.

satan, once known as lucifer, was and angel that hel high position in Heaven. He got to thinking He could take over be God himself. A third of the angels went along with him. They got their arses kicked out of heaven and satan and most of the angels were sent to the barren earth... now satan is the prince of this world...he has nothing to gain... he is doomed and he knows it... When God ends this earth satan and his forces of evil will be consigned to hell...satan is here on this earth right now. He has not been sent to hell yet... he has no need of "followers". He has his forces. All he is trying to do is keep as many mortals from returning to God as he can... that is his way of gitting back at God...satan will not be running hell... but those mortal who continue to reject God will end up in the same fix as satan in the end...There is debate as to exactly what hell is all about... but it wont be a good place that is for sure

Who is Satan?
One who was rebellious against God.
Anyone who take birth in this material world is because he has rebelled against God and is sent here. The obedient ones, are there with God serving Him with love. Besides if the so called Satan were so powerful, then would be two Gods, one good and one bad.

as far as I can tell, Satan simply did not want to serve
He also had many gifts from God. So many, that he thought he was above God, and subsequently chose a number that was higher than God's.
But the last straw was the plan God showed him regarding the Blessed Virgin.
This made him super angry, and since God allowed us free will here on Earth, Satan tries his best to sway that will toward him and not toward God.
Satan has many souls to gain because he knows the value they hold to God. He will take as many as possible in order to flaunt them.

God kicked Satan out of Heavan. He roams the earth. God will throw Satan into lake of fire but has yet to do so. Satan had free will, He wanted to be God.
