If the can shows no sign of damage, rust, dents, bulging the contents are okay. If you detect an off odor, toss them.
If we are talking about home canned veggies, make sure they were canned in a pressure canner and always boil them.

usually when you buy canned corn, or something like that, look at the label and it usually says 2 years later until the expiration date, so their good for up to 1-2 years. i only keep mine for up to a year, then throw them out if i dont use them. i never keep anything beyond the expiration date.

its usually 1.5 to 2 yrs, but the date that is mentioned on the can is not everything.
cuz the expiration also depends on how you store and handle the the food itself. for example, away from heat in a cool place....
