Matthew 5
32But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.
Matthew 19
9And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
Mark 10
11And he saith unto them, Whosoever shall put away his wife, and marry another, committeth adultery against her. 12And if a woman shall put away her husband, and be married to another, she committeth adultery.
the first one clearly states that any woman who gets divorced is an adulteress whether se remarries or not--selective reading anyone?

I agree with you Endora. I am a divorcee, and so was my mother (a devout Christian). I can't believe that I (or she, for that matter) am considered an adultress in Jesus' eyes just by light of the fact that my first husband was a real brute and I realized that my life would be short and miserable with him.

Yes you are reading selectively.
If either "puts" away the spouse or divorces without the reason of fornication commits adultery if they get married again.
The understanding here is fornication.
The first one as you put it is incorrect. It's if the man divorces her he can cause her to commit adultery if she remarries.

It doesn't. If divorce occurs due to any reason other than fornication, both are adulterers. That's why most christian churches will not allow members to divorce unless there has been cheating or malicious desertion.

Well, it also says that if you lust after another with your eyes and your mind, you are committing adultery. So, all those married men out there looking at porn are guilty as well.
Glad I am an atheist, and don't have to worry about what all those verses mean. I live for myself, and my children.

Man wrote the bible, why do you act like the phrases come directly from HIM? The bible was transcribed into many languages. Do you believe NOTHING got lost in the translation?
I say live a good life. If your partner is not the right person for your life, leave a bad situation and start over. God will understand.

Adultery is a sin. It is adultery if you even think lustful things with the opposite sex other than your spouse. Jesus died for all of our sins though.

Gosh, I'm glad I'm Muslim - else I'd be an adulteress for my ex-husband being insane!! Where is the justice in that?

I prefer Matthew 7:1, judge not lest ye be judged.
Who cares about adultry, there are worse crimes in this world than someone re-marrying.

They are adulterers. Most people when doing something they know is wrong will do it anyway and then try to justify.
