If so, how do they work?

yes, of course steroids are presrcibed to our pets for various medical issues.

i think if your veterinary doctor prescribes steroids for your pet, you should give them to him, and then make sure to mention the side effects that you are having.

you can not simply stop or start your pet on steroids for reasons you may or may not like, you need to carefully follow the doctors instructions, as steroids have \very specific physical effects, including a sort of "physical addiction", and if you stop giving them to your dog, you could seriously injure them, as they need to be gradually taken off of them.

Steroids for dogs are not given to "beef up" pets, they are used for swelling, breathing and other various issues, not for fighting or making your dog especially large(r) or tough(er) for fighting.

And yes, if you are asking for that reason, shame on you, you should relinquish your pet to the county animal shelter..

best of luck to everyone.

Steriods are not good for anyone including dogs. My vet prescribed my pit steriods for my pit for his allergies. That just make him feel miserable, fat and lazy. I stopped giving them to him.
