I live in New Mexico, but my and my fiances families are both back in New England, which is where we want the wedding to take place. I can't really travel back and forth all the time to arrange everything. Any advice on planning a wedding from so far away?

I'm in the same situation! I'm based in South Dakota but getting married in Rhode Island. The venue where we're having our wedding provides us with a wedding coordinator, so decorations and such will be taken care of by her. Everything else has been online mostly. I've booked all of my vendors and we coorespond through emails (if i need to see something they've made for me) or on the phone. The DJ even sent a songbook so I can pick songs I'd like. It's a bit scary to do this all on my own from so far away, but I keep telling myself, if something little thing goes wrong, it's still our wedding day and it will be the best day of our lives. IMPORTANT: set a budget, shipping gets very expensive, and don't forget to budget in the cost of your plane tickets to N.E. Congratulations and best wishes!

Tough circumstances.

You can hire a wedding consultant/coordinator. Or you can buy a planner & get VERY organized.
Do you have a trusted family memeber or friend back home?
Are you going to be visiting home anytime soon?
You need to sit down with your fiance, decide what's important to both of you & go from there. It Is going to be a bit more work, but it is possible. Realize too the bigger the wedding the more work there is.

One thing to remember is to stay flexible with a good sense of humor. We all want our wedding day to be "perfect" and there is no such thing. Human beings are fallible. If things don't go exactly planned, don't bring attention to it. You're guests will never know.
And too, remember that this is the day you vow to the one person you love so very much. Despite all the other fun stuff, that's all that really matters.

First talk to your fiance. Then try and go along with the flow. You should plan the honey moon where you want.Try and move up to New England or tell your fiances family to move down to New Mexico or move closer at least.Or from now on your fiances family should come to New Mexico to visit.Or just take turns one year you go to New England and the other year, your fiances family comes to New Mexico.

I own Stonebridge Country Club which is located just outside Manchester, NH. I have worked with many brides to assist them in planning long distance weddings. I have wedding vendors in this area that I can recommend and that can be trusted. That is very important when you are getting something "sight unseen."

All consultations are included in the price of our wedding packages. For more info visit http://www.golfstonebridgecc.com

Our packages begin at $49.95 per person plus tax and gratuity.

Hire a wedding planner in that area, and communicate via internet and pictures and stuff. Make sure you shop around for your wedding planner though, you don't want her/him to cheat you out of money.
