Snoring is only normal if they have a cold. It could mean that she/he has sleep apnea or a constricted nasal passage from tonsils, adnoids or pressure. With sleep apnea, you stop breathing for up to a minute sometimes (if I remember correctly). Really, snoring in adults is just as bad. Get a doctor to check the kid out.

it is very normal. Some people snore. My 8 year old has snored by the time she was 1 year old. You don't need to see a doctor for that. There is nothing wrong. It is not an indicator of sleep apnea either. My daughter sleeps 12 hours if I don't wake her up. Has since she was 4 months old.

When children snore like that there is usually something wrong. No one is suppose to snore but there is more concern when a child does. You need to see a sleep dr although I do not know what they are called. Your child may have adnoid problems or sleep apnea.

No it's not normal for a child to snore. your child might have enlarged adenoids or a problem in his breathing. When both my daughters got ear tubes last year, one of them had to get adenoids out since she snored a lot and the ENT after a checkup decided to take them out during the same procedure. It's a very simple procedure and the recovery is fast. She was her old self that same afternoon!

Some kids do naturally snore. If it is bothering talk to your pediatrician about it. Check out the following site about the difference between snoring and sleep apnea / enlarged tonsils, etc. :

normal? I have 2&8 yo who both snore. Alergies can be cause. If they often have stuffy nose, they learn to breath through their mouthes. Which in turn, causes the snoreing.

Do mention it to your childs dr. Doctotr will have best advice for you.

My son used to snore like crazy, it turned out it was his Tonsills that where preventing him from breathing properly because they were enlarged and swollen. I had them removed and he has improved drastically.
He still snores from time to time. But not as loudly , and he doesn't wake up as often.
