depends on if you believe in god or science. if you believe in god the chicken did if you believe in science then whichever beings evolved and evolved and laid eggs until a chicken emerged [slowly but surely] . . . and it's still going.

The egg, apparently something relatively close to a chicken layed an egg then inside the egg the thing evolved into a chicken. Thus the chicken came before the egg!

It depends how you take it. If you are talking about the same being then that was an egg which after warming up broke the eggshell and became a chicken.
But either way it can be a loop in the same chain which goes on|: egg becomes the chicken which makes the egg which becomes a chicken

Wow this is a old debait but i would say the chicken because something had to lay the egg. And eggs need to stay warm so if the egg was first what kept it warm?
