1. The FIRST refund cycle puts direct deposited refunds in the bank accounts on January 26.

2. the IRS ALWAYS holds all efile acknowledgements the full 48 Hours after filing for the first weekend that it opens in order to ensure integrity in the filing system.

3. NO returns containing any of the December tax changes will be processed by the IRS backend system until after February 3.

4. The CADE system for basic returns to be processed daily instead of weekly will start processing soon, but not until the main systems are shown to be fully functional.

They didn't start accepting returns until yesterday. Refunds from the IRS take 7-10 days to get if you file electronically and have your refund deposited into your bank account. If you've gotten your refund in hours, you must h geave been getting one of those short term, high fee and high interest loans that H&R Block and some other preparers offer.

The preparer gets notification of acceptance in hours to a day at most, but the refunds take longer

A lot of forms aren't finalzed yet, so some self employed people that should be able to file can't because their hasnt' been a finalization.
