have 5 gal of semi gloss white latex paint, need satin finish. Can I mix in some flat latex paint to reduce to shine?

Absolutely!

Also, matting agents can be purchased from some art supply stores. They are what make paints flat. You can decrease the gloss with these, too.

from what i have been told by a painter, satan is just a fancy name for semi gloss paint. but try mixing them, just do a little bit first, and see if you like the out come.

Wow...great question. I am going to try it but I think I will try painting an old board or something before using on the wall. Thanks for the idea. sorry I can't answer but I will be looking for answers from the pros out there.

yes as long as there both water based paints if one is oil based theywill not work together.like pouring water on an oil stain it repells the water.
