everybody says it is the word of god but what they dont realize most gospels have differant versions of the same account, for example when Jesus rose from the dead some gospels say he was greeted by one angel another gospel says he was greeted by two angels another said he was just greated by mary, if it was written by the word of god wouldnt it cantain the truth of what happend and not several versions of one account, this is a perfect example of how stories get changed over time by man
so why believe in noahs arc? or why adam and eve? wouldnt you think it was stories to teach uneducated people of right and wrong, how would god tell the ancient people of evolution, it would be impossible

I think alot of people see what they want to see when they read the bible. It can be left alot to interpretation. I find some people willl twist it to suit their needs. This tendency it because they have something missing in their lives and they need to have some sense of control. I think we are allowed to have our own interpretations, however, at the same time, respect others interpretations as well. Never tell someone they are wrong. It is meant for each person to decide themselves. However, if you're confused go to your local pastor, minister, priest whomever is a studies scholar in the subject. I definitely believe the bible is the word of god. All the stories and narratives within the bible are a guideline in to how we should live our lives. People who do not have any faith (athiests) tend to not have anything nice to say about the bible. Perhaps they need to pick it up and ready to understand that there is nothing threatning about it and they may find some "inner peace" from reading it.

How could you ever take the Bible too literally? If the Bible is not true then your grand pa is down at the zoo. People have no problem believe the newspaper but when they read the Bible they can believe it. If the Lord Jesus Christ didn't come the earth as a man so He could die for our sins then we are just like a animal. When we die the grave is as far as we go. 1 Corinthians 15: 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15: 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

If two or more writers discuss the same event, one might include details that the other omits. One might give a linear chronological account while others may give an account according to subject matter. But discrepancies do not necessarily translate to contradictions.

The accounts of the resurrection are recorded for us at Matthew 28:3-15; Mark 16:5-8; Luke 24:4-12; John 20:2-18. Comparing these accounts reveals the following:

When the women find Jesus’ tomb empty, Mary Magdalene runs off to tell Peter and John but the other women evidently remain at the tomb. Soon, an angel appears and invites them inside.

Inside, the women see yet another angel, and one of the angels says to them: “Do not you be fearful, for I know you are looking for Jesus who was impaled. He is not here . . . go tell his disciples that he was raised up from the dead.” So these women also run off.

By this time, Mary has found Peter and John, and she reports to them: “They have taken away the Lord . . . we do not know where . . .” Immediately the two apostles take off running. John is faster and reaches the tomb first. By this time the other women have left, so no one is around. John looks into the tomb and sees the bandages, but he remains outside.

When Peter arrives, he goes right in. He sees the bandages. John now enters the tomb, and he believes Mary’s report. Confused, the two return home, but Mary, who has come back to the tomb, remains.

In the meantime, the other women are hurrying to tell the disciples that Jesus has been resurrected, as the angels commanded them to do. While they are running along, Jesus meets them and says: “Good day!” They do obeisance to him. Then Jesus says: “. . . report to my brothers, that they may go off into Galilee; and there they will see me.”

Now remember, Mary Magdalene came back to the tomb and remained there, overcome by grief. Where could Jesus be? Stooping forward to look into the tomb, she sees the two angels in white, who have reappeared! “Woman, why are you weeping?” they ask.
“They have taken my Lord away,” Mary answers, “and I do not know where . . .” Then she turns around and sees someone who repeats the question: “Woman, why are you weeping?” And this one also asks: “Whom are you looking for?” Imagining this person to be the caretaker of the garden in which the tomb is situated, she says to him: “Sir, if you have carried him off, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.” “Mary!” the person says. And immediately she knows, by the familiar way he speaks to her, that it is Jesus. “Rab·bo´ni!” she exclaims. And with unbounded joy, she grabs hold of him. Mary now runs to where the apostles and fellow disciples have gathered. She adds her account to the report that the other women have already given about seeing the resurrected Jesus. Yet, these men, who did not believe the first women, apparently do not believe Mary either.

Truly, a different version of an event does not mean that the version is wrong. No, I would not think it was stories to teach uneducated people. Just because these people lived thousands of years ago and did not attend Harvard or Oxford does not make them "uneducated."

No they do not. That is why studying the Bible is so important as well as going to church, Sunday School, prayer and other parts of being a Christian. If I tell someone that God will provide them a path. Which path am I talking about? Am I talking about the one on how to avoid sin, guide them to an object, or send them down a new career path, etc. One of the greatest mistakes made by those who do not read or study the Bible is that they are, and I'm not trying to be mean here, is that they are ignorant. Instead of learning about the Bible, God's plans and what Jesus can teach them through the Holy Spirit. They just stand there and point fingers at it.
So, where to start. How about on your knees. It has been said that a person will find themselves closer to God (with a capital "G") while on their knees. And then I challenge you to ask him which way to go and show you how His Word can work in your life.
"Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge him in all ways possible. Then he will surly guide your path." Proverbs 3:5-6

What do you mean some Christians? They mostly take the bible literally. The minority takes it allegorical in small spots, and a percentage which is so small takes it as it should be, completely allegorical.

Mostly all Christians take every single thing basically literal. They believe God sent down fire and brimstone many times, killed a bunch of first born, that Lot's wife turned into a pillar of salt, that the earth/universe and all it's complexities were made in 7 days, that a female was made from a mans rib, that they talked to a talking snake which said eat a piece of fruit and they did and that was the event that made all things die. I could go on, but should I? I think you get the point. The bible is completely literal to most of them, trust me.

The Bible is a series of oral traditions and reviews of the Hebrew persons and later the Jews that have been finally written down on scrolls earlier being transfered to paper. like quite a few histories, oral traditions finally end up adorned over the a while. there is likewise non secular fantasy intermixing of neighboring cultures. For representation, Utnapishtim was once the Babylonian version of Noah. The Babylonian fantasy is older than the Hebrew fantasy, and so Noah is taken from the type of Utnapishtim. The Jewish robust-guy Sampson is genuinely-known after the proto-known powerful-guy Heracles. lots of the myths approximately Jesus are modelled after the myths of Mithra. almost the full element in faith is powerfuble to be defined by potential of socio-anthropological assessment of worldwide cultures and people who that they had interaction with. As a Christian, I evaluate that Jesus exchange into as quickly as an exact guy or woman and that he's the Messiah. even although I additionally properly primary that there is no evidence for this theory and that evidence oftentimes factors to the different. even although, isn't it better pleasing to think of that the soul keeps on after death? and is not it better friendly to evaluate that even while the full international is in direction of you, that there remains a being that loves you, whether you're engaged in self-fantasy? that's larger critical to think snug, to help those around you, to stay a reliable, socially accountable life, and to be remembered as a reliable guy or woman than that's to worry relating to the info of what's actual or invented. Afterall, Socrates asked the question, "what's certainty?" there is no definitive respond to what certainty particularly is, considering certainty is continually interior the attention of the beholder.

The discrepancies that you see can often be understood if you look up the wording in the Greek and Hebrew. Also, even though the Bible was written by inspiration of God, He did use men to describe things in writing which they would have viewed the same occurrence with a slightly different descriptions. There is no discrepancies in matters of salvation in the Bible.

Because they all happened. Just because you record part of what you saw starting at the middle of the story doesn't mean what another recorded didn't start at the verey beginning of the story. So therefore when you put them all together you should indeed have the full story. There is no contradictions. Even in court they call several witnesses to determine the whole story. One might have noticed one detail about what happened that another one didn't and so forth. It's nothing to read into.

There are minor things, as you say. But the reason for christ and the crucifixition is the sin in Paradise by Adam and Eve. If you lose that, you're left with humanism.
