I don't live in your state, so not totally sure..But as far as I know, since you are a minor at 17, your parents take responsibility for all legal indictments, if you had charges of some sort pressed against you. They don't have any responsibility as far as traffic or parking violations are concerned. If you're nice they might pay your court fees?

It depends on the felony i guess. At age 17, it is more on you than your parents, but if it had something to do with neglect on your parents behalf then they can be taken down with you. e.g. if you got in trouble while you were drunk, and you got the liquor from your parents cabinet, then you might both get in trouble, because your parents are supposed to keep those things locked up, but since you're 17, you're almost legal, and almost old enough to take the wrap for urself

As far as I know-In Michigan the minor does get in trouble doing juvie time, community service, parole or what not. But the parents are liable for damages or fines that the minor was charged with. Parents have to also pay for lawyers if needed and court fees. But this is Michigan.

In Arizona, a 17-year old I know was convicted as an adult, and sent to the juvenile wing of the adult prison. He had stuck up a 7-11 with a watergun. His parents suffered no consequences.

Unless the laws have changed, it's the same way in Texas. Parent's are still responsible for their child, at 17 years of age.

you would have to specify which particular law you are talking about. that law doesn't make any sense to me, and sounds like some generic statute only a state like Missouri could make. If there is a law such as that, I doubt anyone follows it, and I'm sure most cases would get overturned. For example, in Pennsylvania, oral sex is illegal, but no cop is going to arrest you because of it.

You would take some fault and may end up in juvie, but your parents by law have to always takes some of the blame until you are at least 18.

At the age of 17, you're still a minor. That means your parents still hold much of the responsibility regarding your actions. You're still the one going to juvenile detention though...

I heard the same thing. I don't know if charges are brought against the parents too, but I know they will be held responsible financially.
For example if your kid does damage to property or hurts someone else then the parents get sued for damages.

Missouri is the state of "SHOW ME"...is that what you did? And it does not matter whether you are the boy or the girl, you ultimately need to take responsibility for your actions! DON'T PLAY IF YA CAN'T PAY! ;)
