Would you be ready for an emergency, even a small emergency like minor riot or something as big a nuclear war, or would you fall along the wayside and become a drain on emergency resources or would you be independant and survive on your own?

I have lunchmeat, 5 pounds of cheese and soda and crackers/peanut butter.. I have enough food for at least 2 weeks (maybe not soda) and a loaded gun...As far as in the case of a torndado or hurricane, I will just have to be blown away.. My landlord doesn't provide storm shelters.. I can't use my mattress.. I can't hold onto it and my dog..so, I would be o.k. in some emergencies for a few days.. after that, I would be a drain on resources..

I am totally prepared with emergency supplies and a way to cook it. I live in a Mobil home in a rural setting. Have a storm cellar this is tornado alley and we have learned to make it on our own no matter what happens. I have plastic and duct tape to put on windows if I need to. Extra bottles of water. water tank with a spigot. If my Mobil home blows away then I have a travel trailer 10 miles away. If I can get a ride over there or walk.
I have insurance to cover the cost of replacement.
Maybe I will get one of those new ones just across the border in Arkansaw. So, i do try to think of everything.

The only thing that can prep you for an emergency is mental preparation. Yea a Nuke hits and you're visiting Aunt Peggy, I am pretty sure that you're fall out shelter and food at home will be fine, but I am not sure that you'll make it. Mental preparation is what's needed in case of an emergency. Not going paranoid is one of them. Yes - I am ready for anything to happen. I accept death as much as I accept life.

There will be no emergency ressources. I have beans, rice stockpiled. There is a spring, river and lake within walking distance.
I have several thousand rounds of 22 ammo. I have a generator. Most importanly I have skill to make things and won't sit and die like the majority in this society who can't do anything but drive to Walmart for everything.

Considering I am in the Army national guard I would be called into active duty if something like that would occur so from a monatary stand point I'd be perfectly fine.

I would also be one that would be focused on helping those who have been effected by whatever emergency occured.

Personally I would survive. I have seen and lived through things that would turn your hair white. Spent a lot of time in the school of life which I believe more people need to spend their free time. To be a good survivor you have to know how to live. No experience and you are as good as dead if any disaster should hit your life.
