mamakumar God is the the whole of Father Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus was God with us or God in the flesh and is the son of God which by definition is God as he is a part of God's completeness. The same as you are body and spirit but if your body dies we no longer refer to it a you but your dead body as it is still you it is not the whole of who you are.

What ever? The Arabic translation for Yeshua is Yasu. there is no Arabic name Esa or Isa the closest Biblical name would be Esau.

Sherzade You are Muslims and agree God named Jesus? Jesus we all know is a Jew and his mother would have called him by his Hebrew name Yeshua. Mat. 1:21 explains why God named him this becuase he would save his people. Does Allah agree that Jesus is our Savior and died to atone for the sins of his people? Well then why did allah name him this we know why God named him this.

Bye God named Jesus that is the most ridicuous answer i have seen you people added the J?????? The name his moter named him is Yeshua translated it becomes Jesus but by no ordinary tranlation does it become Isa In Arabic it is still not correct but Mary was a Jew therfore the arguement is moot as his actual name is Yeshua...uhm Savior.

Just im not asking what the meaning was try to lessen he impact I am sure it must be hard the Word in Hebrew is Savior Its not like my name means Gods Gracious Gift . The word for his name in Hebrew is Savior. and is because God told them what his name would be. If Allah is the God that existed before Muhammed as he claims to be he would have known that he named Jesus Savior because he would save his people. now if this is not the God that named Jesus then Allah is not God but a liar. and in any case must surely be as he denys his own word. If Mathew 1 tells us God named Jesus because he would save his people and this is clearly his name then how is it Allah comes a long and denys it when it is clearly the name of Jesus. does the Christian God know something Allah did not?

Sen B. I have read the Bible and you too should read it . You are repeating what Muslims say but is not in the Bible the Comforter is the Holy Spirit and it is in the same chapter that Muslims quote he is also with us forever if you read it and Muhammed is very much dead. Please read the true word of God and quit following a dead man who did not know him.

Yotg I have no idea of you religeous affiliation and it might be the reason why my question is unclear to you regardless if the name means savior as I have studied and beleive it to mean or salvation which you agree with both are equally a problem for Allah and possible even the Jews as you may well be the Gospel explains the name Yeshua comes by order of God that his name would be as you would call it Salvation because he would save his people from there sin. Mathew 1:21 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
This is important for us because Hebrew is the key to becoming more authentically Biblical. In Hebrew, the phrase,"and she shall call his name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins," is actually a play on words. "…and she shall call His name Yeshua for He will yoshea His people…(Matt.1:21). Both are derived from the root "yesha", to save. So Yeshua means savior,

Sen b. God existed long before Muhammed and Muhammed denies every truth of God. You do not study or follow his truth if you follow as I said the dead man who changed it. God is very much alive and Muhammed is dead and his book will lead you to his grave.

Muhammed was born almost 600 years after Christ.

Then he tried to re-write history and falsify the teachings of Christ:
Muslims (and Islam) say Jesus was a prophet but they reject all His teachings ...

They reject Christ's divinity;
they reject his claim to be the Son of God;
they reject his death on the cross...
they reject His ressurrection..
They reject Jesus is the Christ/ Messiah...
Need I say more...?

Don't be deceived. The Islamic god is totally different than the God of Jesus Christ .

The Bible calls Muhammed a False prophet....
"Who is a liar but he that denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is anti-Christ, that denies the Father and the Son. He that denies the Son, the same has not the Father." (I John 2:22)

Did you know Jesus said there shall be one more messenger after me and his name shall be Muhammad?
Did you know that Adam spoke to God about Muhammad and God asked how he knew of this name? And Adam said he saw his name is on Gods thrown.

First off i do not "follow" a dead man, I follow God.
Yes Muhammad (PBUH)is dead and yes he was a man. But he was a prophet and Gods final messenger, telling us to follow God not himself. Muhammad (PBUH) is highly respected and loved but so is Jesus loved by Muslims as is all Gods prophets.
I have read the bible i grew up reading the bible, how condescending of you to assume i haven't. I grew up in a christian house hold my mother is a born again christian.
I am not "repeating" what Muslims say. I am a Muslim and i study the Quran and Sunnah for myself and speak from my own knowledge of what i have learned.
I suggest you read the Quran and listen to what GOD has to say about how he wants to be worshiped and followed. If you want to be a christian fine, does not bother me in the slightest or effect my life in any way. But don't tell me i am wrong, you don't know me or anything about my faith. I am free to follow Gods word and I'll be taking his word over yours any day of the week.

I'm sorry, I fail to understand your question...

Jesus is known in the Quran as "Isa", not Esau, and his Hebrew name "Yehushu'a" means "god is salvation" (trust me on this one, Hebrew is my mother tongue). Even if you insist on the shortening of the name- Yeshu'a, it still means "salvation" and not "savior".

Now, what's the connection between the Arabic version of Jesus' name and the claim that god himself chose it?

Jesus is viewed in Islam as a prophet. He is not viewed in Judaism in any way.

In islam we belive that Allah named mary's son as Isa and gave him the title 'messiah'.
And we beleive that Isa was one of the mightiest messengers of Allah.

It is mentioned in the Quran that the likeness of Isa is like that of adam.
For adam was born without a father or mother , and jesus was born without a father.
(And they both were prophets)
So it was easier for Allah to create Isa as he already created adam before .

In islam , Isa is not 'devine' due to his virgin birth.
It was a miracle of Allah which shows us Allah's divinity , not of isa's .

If so , then u christians should beleive in a greater god than jesus i.e adam (as adam had no mom and dad).

In islam , we worship the Creator , not the created.

Other religions, such as Judasim, and Islam, don't deny Jesus existed but view Him as a prophet, not the son of God.
