I've been married since June 06' what is the best way to go as far as getting a good return when filing this year?

In almost all situations, married joint. To be honest, there aren't a lot of alternatives

Your only options are married filing joint or married filing separately. You will find that filing joint is the best. The tax rates for filing separately are the highest percentage. People usually only file separately when they cannot communicate well enough to file jointly.
