DZE: just because he makes some smartass remarks on tv doesnt make him courageous, it just shows he's a loudmouth sob. and selling 50% of your oil production to the us can hardly be seen as resisting to us domination. so the question remains a clown or a complete idiot?

He convinced the citizens that their life has gotten better under his leadership, plain and simple. Even though they are still living in poverty, they believed him. The man is paranoid, delusional and in bed with anyone who claims to be an enemy of the west, especially America. He is a special buddy of Iran's President.

He is a clown AND a complete idiot. I am venezuelan, I live in Venezuela and my opinion is that what Chavez wants is to be the owner of the country and he's the worst president we've ever had.

Hugo Chavez is a very dangerous dictator. I hope our government is keeping a good eye on him and his cronies. He is a big supporter and ally of Castro in Cuba. He could be 90 miles off the coast of US before we know it. Although Castro is no longer in control, Chavez has been funnelling money to Cuba. He is no friend of the U.S., or of any civilized country.

WHEN YOU HAVE AS MANY POOR PEOPLE AS THAT COUNTRY DOES, YOU CAN HAVE A DECENT POLITICAL BASE JUST ADMINISTERING TO THEIR NEEDS AND DREAMS. MOSTLY UNEDUCATED AND DOWNTRODDEN, THESE FOLKS ARE RECETIVE TO ANYONE WHO PROMISES PIE IN THE SKY. HE CAN KEEP IT GOING BECAUSE HE HAS A BASIC DICTATORSHIP HERE AND CONTROLS MOST ASPECTS OF LIFE IN VENEZUELA. THE FINER POINTS OF DIPLOMACY ESCAPE THE LEMMINGS. IT IS POP CULTURE TO BLAME THE U.S. FOR EVERYTHING FROM POVERTY TO TOENAIL FUNGUS ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE OIL AS A WEAPON. MANY COUNTRIES SOUTH OF THE BORDER HAVE BEEN RULED BY STRONGMEN FOR NEARLY THEIR ENTIRE EXISTENCE SOONER OR LATER YOU ARE BOUND TO GET SOME IDIOT WHO ENJOYS POKING US IN THE EYE JUST BECAUSE THEY CAN. THE BASIC HUMAN INSTINCT OF THESE TYPE OF THUGS IS TO SAY "I'VE GOT MINE AND I WANT PART OR ALL OF WHAT YOU HAVE. SIMILAR TO THE SUPER RICH, THESE FOLKS ARE NEVER SATISFIED NO MATTER HOW MUCH WEALTH AND POWER THEY ENJOY-THEY ALWAYS WANT MORE GENERALLY AT SOMEONE ELSES EXPENSE.
