Hello,
I got a new tattoo :)
Well I've scabbed, peeled and itched. I've had it for around seven days now.
A question of interest, which I haven't found an answer to, is it supposed to look somewhat dry and the skin somewhat wrinkled, like a sunburn, during that time?
Thanks in advance.

Yes and it will look like that for a while until it heals. You need to refrain from scratching/peeling and get some gentle, odorless lotion and apply whenever it feels dry. I suggest Curel Fragrance Free because its main ingredients are water and glycerin, which is good. Stay away from lotions with oils or alcohol.

DO NOT put regular body lotion on it!! the perfumes in it will dry your tattoo out
Use A & D ointment--(you can get the cheap brand at the dollar store, it is just as good as the name brand.)
didnt your tattoo artist tell you that?
be sure when you wash it-do not use hot water, do not 'rub' it & let it air dry.-- if you get in the shower--dont let the water hit it.
to wash it- get a washcloth with warm water-put some antibacterial soap on it & pat your tattoo gently.
let it air dry for a bit & apply the A & D-
you should wash it 2x a day at least.
put the a & d on as much as you need it during the day.
if it starts to itch--dont scratch, put some a and d on--it really does work.
I had no probs. with my tattoo at all--and it is very detailed.
Use the A & D!!!

don't pick at it because it makes the scabbing, itching, peeling worse. go to your tattoo artist and get some healing lotion to put on it. but have clean hands if you touch it. if that still doesn't work, get it checked out by a doctor. your tattoo may be infected.

Sounds like you are right on schedule. Keep it moisturized (Lubriderm or Vaseline lotion are the best). Then -- keep it bright -- make sure you sunblock. Admittedly, I like the beach and that cancerous glow, so I'm known for just dabbing block on the tats.

it's basically a bad sunburn. put lotion on it if it looks dry, as long as it is fully peeled. use a sunscreen when you go out. hope you like it!

At this point in time you need to keep it moisturized with Lubriderm lotion.
