It won't stop you from burning, but it'll get your skin used to it so it won't burn as easily. You go brown quicker, rather than only being red throughout the holiday! It also helps with heat rash if you often get it in the sun.
I tend to go 2/3 times a week for 2 or 3 weeks before the holiday and that does the trick - but make sure you don't go for too long each time. The tanning salon should advise you on your skin type / recommended time anyway.
And if you're very fair skinned like me, it avoids the 'wow, you're so white' comments that I normally get on the first few days of the holiday!

To a degree if you get a good base tan before you go. You probably won't have to use as much sunscreen, but you can still get burnt, if if you are very tan.

No! u can evan get burnt on the sun bed. If u don't want to get burn then i suggest to put factor 60 sun cream or more!

it is alway goo to have a "base tan" befor u go into alot of direct sun and yes it will help u from burning. also they make tanning lotions that have low spf's they also help from burnig.
