marine corps boot camp. even after i told u all about the brutality and abuse of marine boot camp u all still defend it! i told u of blanket parties, drill instructors beating up recruits, which is illegal, and the time even when i was told not to look around, i did i was caught, and right when i was going to get my first bite of my meal, the drill instructor whispered in my ear, "you are done eating". with this being said, i asked u all a question, if u were a police officer in san diego, and you were looking thru the fence at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, and if you would see a drill instructor choking or kicking a recruit in the butt, i know you wouldnt have jurisdiction on a military base, but you can report it to the MP's, well anyway, i asked if you would see this behavior would you report it or would you just smile and turn away. i had about 20 answers and ALL of you said you would smile and turn away!!! i thought police officers were against illegal activities! are you?

I went to Marine Corps Recruit Training. You've seen too many movies. Drill Instructors do not physically abuse recruits anymore. Blanket parties are a myth. Recruits are not denied meals. These are facts, not just me defending them. There are people on the base called "Regimental Inspectors", their job is to watch the Drill Instructors. There are always eyes on the Drill Instructors.
Sir, you are basicly lying. My guess is that you went to boot camp, it was too tough for you and you quit. Now you're making up these stories for revenge or something like that. Well you just keep on doing it. I hope you feel better.

i'm uncertain what you recommend approximately pathetic, yet i'm going to answer your question the appropriate i will.( i in my opinion do not care relating to the factors) If I observed a DI giving a recruit a kick interior the seat of the pants and it exchange into obvious the reason exchange into to not injure the recruit yet to get him moving, i does not interfere. i don't trust the choking section considering I see no valid coaching fee in slicing off a squaddies oxygen. returned, If i presumed the reason of the DI exchange into to bodily injury the recruit, as a civilian police officer i could have made a decision to the protection rigidity Police and stated the incident. As a 20 year protection rigidity Police Veteran, i in my opinion had a similar incident happen years in the past and the NCO ( who exchange into not a DI) exchange into charged thus. NCO's are held to an more advantageous prevalent and could behave that way. As NCO's, DI's have the toughest interest of all, making squaddies out of Civilians. to assert a number of those civilians merely at the instant are not as much as the undertaking is an below assertion. that's the DI's accountability to weed those human beings out. sometimes it takes questioning "exterior the field" to motivate a recruit, and to be brutally truthful, some DI's at the instant are not as much as that questioning, those that may not be able to, would properly be companies to hotel to violence. i'm going to assert this although, maximum of those incidents are lowering common interior the protection rigidity.

The Maestro is correct. The worst I saw at MCRDPI (if you don't know what that is, you've never been to 'boot camp') was IPT or incentive physical training. That is a variation on 'do push-ups until I get tired'. It never lasted more them 5 min, even when it felt like hours. The commanding officer of our company did hold an investigation when one recruit claimed to have witnessed a 'blanket party'. As the alleged victim of the party, I can assure you it never happened.

i was in the army for 5 years.went through basic twice, because i changed mos.i have nevewr been beat on or seen this happen.this was in the early 1990's.desert storm time.it was rough then.from what i understand it is a vacation now.
but i will tell u this,i would rather have a drill instructor that is a harda$$ rather than to easy on recruits.i dont want some little panzy that i have to rely on to protect me and my rights from enemy forces.we need more rambos in the military that are not afraid to look the enemy in the eye and pull the trigger.i wasnt.

Well first of all there is no where at MCRD where a police officer could peer through the fence and see the recurits. So already your story is flawed. I think eveything else has already been covered by the other responses.
